Making Transition from Tied Agent to Become A Licensed Financial Planner 

If you are currently a tied agent from any unit trust management company (UTMC) or insurance company and thinking of becoming a licensed financial planner, you are required by law to untie from your principal company. For insurance agent, after untying from your principal, you are still enjoying direct commission from your principal for the next five years and this is allowed by BNM. 

If you have not obtained any qualification or currently undergoing any of the said qualification, you have a option to enrol yourself as an intern or junior adviser under the supervision of a licensed financial planner, it provides you an opportunity to have some hands on experience.

Differrent category of financial planner available:

·         Intern

Requirement:

·         Diploma or Degree holder

(preferably graduated from Finance & Accounting or Business & Marketing)

·         Junior Planner

Requirement:

·         Passed any two CFP modules

·         Senior Planner

Requirement:

·         Passed ALL CFP modules
